Marianne Has ALS

I have a running game show in my head called “Is it als or is it all in my head?!?”

During clinic I was asked multile times if I was having trouble swallowing…immediatly after clinic I thought multiple times that I indeed was having trouble swallowing (spoiler alert it was ALL IN MY HEAD!).

I do this a million times a day, is my stinky fart als or is it in my head (in my head)? is the excessive sweating als or is it all in my head (als), numb tongue (als…but we think it’s a side effect of the medication), muscle cramp (could be als, could also just be a cramp), not hungry (who knows) – the list is endless.

What I do know is that my left arm is a bit worse than a month ago, my right hand and arm are the same as they were a month ago, my left leg is a bit limpy, and my right leg is a-ok. I can swallow easily, I can eat easily, and my breathing (as far as I can tell) is good. I have the ability to walk…and

I need to. The past month has been spent at home resting…and now I’m ready to take some mini trips out. Tonight we went to Target and just getting out of the house felt great, it felt equally great to move my body.

Goal for the next week – take 3 or more mini trips, get out, do things and stuff.
