Meet My Nemesis

When Jacob and I were house hunting it felt like we looked at a million homes. The kiddo loved each and every home – when we left a house he would give us all the reasons that house was THE house. Finally we came to the home we are currently living in and we all decided that THIS home was THE home. Our home is located near some amazing schools, close to the mountians, and within walking distance to Dimple Dell. Pre ALS our home was a dream home.

Post ALS our home is now my nemesis.

Issue #1 : The Tub

This tub is super tall. Even with the step stool I have troule getting in and out of the tub. The obvious answer is to remove the tub and make a walk-in shower. And that is a great idea except for…

Issue #2 – THE STAIRS OF DEATH

Note: the stairs aren’t deadly all on their own, it’s the dogs who make them a death trap.

Our home is a tri-level …meaning you have to go up or down stairs to access most of the home. We aren’t quite sure how to handle this situation, a chair lift is a temporary fix as you have to be able to hold yourself up for the lift to work (at some point I won’t be able to do this).

A specialist is coming out to our house soon to help us navigate what changes are needed and how to navigate those changes.

On a personal note, making drastic changes to our house leaves me conflicted. Will the changes devalue the home? We are hoping for a long progression, but what if it is a fast progression – is it worth it? Is it worth the money if I’m not long for this world (yes, that is me being dramatic)? Again…I don’t know what the right answer is.

On an unrelated / happy note, a good friend dropped off some delicous food tonight! Thank you!!

PS – the photos are for 3/12 and 3/13
